Almuñécar allows you to combine the historic center, archaeological heritage and coast. For a first visit, choose a cultural resource and a walk, leaving time for travel. The castle, museum, leisure facilities and beach require different checks.

Castillo de San Miguel: published rate and schedules
The official file of the Castillo de San Miguel places it on the hill of the same name. It describes structures from the Muslim period and subsequent transformations, in addition to the pavilion that houses the City Museum. The entire site is not presented as a preserved Roman construction.
Consulted on October 5, 2026, the file publishes €4 for adults and €2.50 for children and pensioners. Before purchasing, confirm which spaces are included in the rate and the requirements for any reductions. A joint entry for the castle and Cueva de Siete Palacios is not credited here.
The Tourism file and the municipal services directory show different schedules for the castle. Check the exact opening before planning your visit, especially during seasonal changes. The published telephone number is 650 027 584.
Cueva de Siete Palacios: museum and archeology
The Provincial Tourist Board describes the Cueva de Siete Palacios within the set of vaults built to expand the urban space of the Roman city. The Municipal Archaeological Museum exhibits materials from different cultures linked to Almuñécar.
Among its pieces, an Egyptian cinerary vase associated with Apophis I stands out. The record probably suggests its origin from the Laurita necropolis; We do not turn it into an archaeological certainty or into an amphora with an unequivocal date.
For La Cueva, the municipal directory publishes, from September 16 to October 31, Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Indicates box office closing thirty minutes before. These are published schedules, consulted on October 5, 2026; confirm possible changes and the rate. The indicated contact is 958 616 131.
El Majuelo and the La Najarra Tourist Office
The municipal directory identifies the El Majuelo Botanical-Archaeological Park on Europa Avenue and the Tourist Office in the Palacete de La Najarra. You can use Tourism as an information point to prepare the walk and check which spaces are open, without assuming access to the entire mansion or all areas of the park.
Tourism publishes the telephone number 958 631 125 and the email turismo@almunecar.es. Ask about the route that fits your mobility, schedules and visit possibilities. An urban route without steps, slopes or barriers has not been accredited here.
Aquarius and Sexy Parrot: confirm before organizing the day
The municipal directory includes the Almuñécar Aquarium and the Loro Sexi Ornithological Park. The existence of these records does not prove effective opening or an available visit on your date. We avoid presenting them as a guaranteed plan for all families.
To consult the aquarium, please contact 958 675 823 and aquarium@almunecar.es; for Loro Sexi, 958 635 617 and reservaparqueszoologicos@almunecar.es. Confirm attention, access, tickets and conditions of the group before moving.
Beaches and coastal walk
The official Tourism website lists San Cristóbal, Puerta del Mar, Velilla, Cotobro and Calabajío among the beaches of the municipality. Choose a stop according to your arrival point and the route you want to take, without automatically adding several beaches to the same day.
To enter the water, check the advisories, signage and conditions of the day. A tourist description does not accredit surveillance, open services, accessibility or safety of bathing out of season. A Blue Flag from another edition is also not used as proof of current status.
The walk along the coast can complete an urban plan without it being necessary to bathe or hire a nautical activity. If you want a diving, kayaking or snorkeling trip, ask the operator directly about the service and conditions, without deducing its availability from the description of a beach.
How to divide a day or a weekend
-
Start with the town and a cultural resource. Choose a castle or museum depending on opening and time available; add the second if it fits your group.
-
Leave time to eat and rest. Confirm opening, reservation and dietary needs with the chosen establishment.
-
Complete with a coastal walk or a confirmed installation. It is not promised that the castle, museum, aquarium, park and beaches can all be visited in one day.
If you stay another night, you can dedicate a second day to a specific activity or to another area of the municipality, preparing the trip and return separately.
Transportation, services and travel date
Check the itinerary from your origin and arrival point before leaving. A fixed distance or a fifty-minute trip from Granada is not guaranteed. If you travel by bus, check with the operator about the service, stop, price and return date for your date.
To sleep, check directly the location, availability and conditions of the accommodation. For a party or activity, use the program of the edition that interests you; a page from a previous event does not prove its current celebration.
