Las Gabias: Torreón, Roman villa and how to prepare your visit

Las Gabias allows you to discover Nasrid heritage and a Roman site under investigation. To prepare a cultural outing, start with the Torreón and consult separately the possibilities of visiting the Roman villa. Add a cultural space or a walk only after checking schedules and return transportation.

The Torreón de Las Gabias: address, access and visit

The heritage file of the Provincial Council describes a farmhouse tower from the Nasrid period, between the 13th and 15th centuries. It preserves interior decorations of plasterwork and tiles. The Provincial Council describes free visits on weekdays and the possibility of arranging weekends for groups of at least ten people. The municipal notice of October 16, 2023 announced a time slot from Monday to Friday, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., different from the one included in the provincial form. Access and interior travel require stairs; The Provincial Council points out that the tower is not adapted for people with reduced mobility. If this affects your visit, consult alternatives with the City Council and do not book with step-free access.

Roman villa and cryptoportico: heritage under investigation

The archaeological report published by the Board in 2025 documents surveys carried out in December 2022 within the conservation and preliminary musealization project of the site’s cryptoportico. To get to know the enclave, check which areas are part of the visit and what work is being carried out.

The City Council reported in June 2025 on the project monitoring commission, with excavation, documentation, conservation and proposals for dissemination and visits. Before you go, check which activity is actually available, its meeting point and its access conditions.

If archeology is the main reason for your trip, arrange the visit before organizing the trip: an open day has its own date and conditions. Respect closed areas and the instructions of the responsible team.

Casa Blasco and cultural activity

The Casa de los Blasco is another point of cultural interest. The City Hall presented the second edition of Casa Blasco 360 Experience in September 2026, with exhibitions, music, theater, cinema and workshops, while the recovery of the property continues. How to get there from Granada: choose the line by destination

The Consortium directory includes the line 156, Granada–Armilla–Churriana de la Vega–Las Gabias, and the 158D, Granada–Churriana de la Vega–Gabia Grande, direct. For Gabia Chica, publish the 157, which passes through Armilla, Churriana and Pedro Verde.

Choose the line according to the exact direction and open the schedule of the day and direction of travel. Check the nearest stop, the walking distance and the last turn; Hours may vary depending on the service and day.

The expansion of the metro and available transportation

The operator’s announcement of July 31, 2026 describes tests on the southern extension to Las Gabias, prior to its commissioning. To organize the trip, consult the stops and service published by Metro de Granada and check if your destination has commercial service on the chosen date.

If you combine metro and bus, check where the transfer takes place and the schedule of both routes. If you are traveling by car, use the address of the visit and check the access and parking available.

For a short heritage-focused outing, start at the Torreón within its confirmed schedule. Add the Roman villa when you have an arranged visit, or choose a specific cultural activity. Leave room for travel and return.
