Option 1: Driving via the A-395 Highway
The main artery connecting Granada with Sierra Nevada is the A-395. It is a modern, well-maintained mountain highway with dual lanes on the lower ascent and wide switchbacks:
- Distance: 32 kilometers from Granada center. Driving time: 40–50 minutes.
- Route: From Granada’s Ronda Sur (A-395), follow the signs marked Sierra Nevada / Estación de Esquí. The road passes Cenes de la Vega and climbs steadily past Canales reservoir into the high mountain.
- Snow Chains (Cadenas): By Spanish traffic law (DGT ↗), when snow falls or road level is designated Yellow/Red, snow chains or winter tires are legally mandatory. Always carry chains in your trunk during winter. Police checkpoints turn back any vehicle without them.

- Departure: Granada Central Bus Station (Estación de Autobuses), with a convenient secondary pick-up stop at Palacio de Congresos in downtown Granada.
- Arrival: Pradollano Bus Parking (Plaza de Andalucía).
- Schedule (Winter Season): Departures from Granada at 09:00, 10:00, and 17:00 (additional hourly runs on weekends). Returns from Sierra Nevada at 09:00, 16:00, and 18:30.

- Parking Subterráneo Plaza de Andalucía: Located directly beneath the main ski lifts (2,644 spaces). The most convenient option, heated and sheltered. Daily fee: approximately €20–€24.
