Hailed by poets, painters, and international travelers as one of the most romantic riverside promenades in the world, the walk along the Carrera del Darro and into the open-air esplanade of Paseo de los Tristes is the emotional soul of Granada.
Flanked on one side by the ancient whitewashed houses, convent courtyards, and Renaissance stone palacios of the Albaicín, and on the other by the roaring green Darro River rushing beneath stone bridges under the vertical 100-meter cliffs of the Alhambra, strolling here is like stepping into a 16th-century watercolor.
1. Highlights Along the Carrera del Darro

2. Paseo de los Tristes (Plaza del Padre Suárez)
Officially named Plaza de los Aljibes, locals affectionately call it Paseo de los Tristes (The Promenade of the Sad Ones) because funeral corteges historic ascended this boulevard towards the cemetery on the Alhambra hill.
